However, compact foundations are excellent alternatives as they give an even finish, which doesn’t have to be set with powder. Foundations are designed to give a soft, even, natural glow to the face. The best coverage comes with the use of the right colour and product type and not from the amount of foundation you apply. Foundation goes on all over your face to make it looks uniform and smooth. It comes in three types: liquid, cream and powder. Make sure that your foundation is oilbased for dry skin, oil-free for oily skin and water-based for combination skin. Some people use foundation to cover up dark under eye circles slightly, but if you have nay pimples, red spots or dark circles, use a concealer; not foundation. Foundations are different for different skin types as water based are there for oily skin and moisturizers based are for dry skin. If your foundation looks heavy or blotchy – regardless of whether it was applied with a finger or a sponge – run a make-up sponge across the skin to soak up any excess product. Foundation gives a flawless appearance to the skin, which makes it look perfect without any blemishes, and makes the skin tone look even. While applying liquid foundation, it is better to put small points of foundation at different parts of your face such as forehead, nose tip, chin and cheek bones and then blend a little at a time on the face to give a more finished look. The shape of your face can be changed to some extent by the use of foundation. If you have a round face, use a dark shade foundation; for square and diamond shaped face, use a darker shade over the jaw and the chin. If the skin below your eyes has a subdued colour, you can heighten it by using darker shade on the spot. If your cheek bones are raised, apply dark shade foundation below them.
